The biggest Banquet Event in the Channel Islands of 2014 took
place in Queens Hall at Fort Regent on Saturday 5th July
2014. Jersey White Collar Boxing ran by Boxin Business
attracted 900 people to watch their friends, family members and
colleagues fight under the dome. The event had previously
taken place at Hotel de France, this was the first year at Fort
Regent and the biggest crowd ever!
Fort Regent's Events Officer, Tom Le Sueur, signed up to take part
this year and completed over 8 weeks of hard training. Tom
trained alongside 19 other participants in exhausting fitness
classes, savage sparring sessions and miles and miles of runs
across sand dunes, upstairs and many steep hills. The 20
participants, 16 men and 4 ladies, trained to compete in fights
lasting 3 x 2 minute rounds refereed by ex- boxing champion, Steve
All participants took part to raise money for 2 very worthy
charities; Le Tournoi and Teenage Cancer Trust. Over £20,000
has been raised in total between the 2 charities and there is still
some sponsorship money to collect.
