Café Des Sports Anniversary

On Thursday 5th July 2012, Les Quennevais Sports Center's café re-opened as CAFÉ DES SPORTS. New proprietors Paul and Rachel Mauger were looking forward to their new venture and felt that the café and its menu were ready for a new look. Active caught up with Rachel and asked her to comment on the past year. Here's what she said:

"We have had a fabulous 1st year, albeit full of mistakes and steep learning curves! We feel we have come a long way, but we still have a long way to go before we have fulfilled all of our cafe ambitions! We firmly believe that we are offering what a sports centre needs, and in Les Quennevais' case, deserves. Our juices and smoothies are proving a hit with the young and old alike, and we are constantly looking to improve our post exercise range of supplements and salads. We have some fantastic and loyal customers, who have helped ensure that our first year was thoroughly enjoyable. We hope our next year in the cafe business is just as much fun."

Positive feedback about Cafe Des Sports

Good morning

I hope you don't mind me emailing you direct, I found your email address on the States Intranet.

On Saturday morning I took out an Active Card after a break of 2-3 years, so on Sunday I went for a swim and a steam and sauna at Les Quennevais.  Afterwards I went upstairs for a coffee and was surprised to see that the café had been re-branded and was offering a wide range of healthy food.  I was equally impressed to see Gluten free options (these are still fairly hard to come by) so I ordered a Gluten free Brownie and a coffee - and then thought there must have been a mistake when I was only charged £2.70!  (But there wasn't).

I would just like to say "well done" and thankyou for making this café better than it was before, while keeping the prices more than reasonable.  Myself and my daughter will be coming swimming frequently over the next few months - we used to go for coffee elsewhere after our swim, but we will definitely stay at Les Q now instead.
