As today’s young people grow up in an increasingly digital world, something refreshing is happening: fitness is making a serious comeback. Teens aren’t just scrolling — they’re moving.
Recent trends show youth sports participation rising to its highest level since 2019, with more than half of young people now taking part in organised physical activity. Even better, many are branching out beyond traditional team sports, with activities like swimming seeing more than a 15% rise in participation over the past decade.
It’s clear that young people are looking for new, exciting and flexible ways to stay active — whether that’s through group workouts that boost motivation, or wellness-focused activities that help them unwind.
We’re excited to introduce a range of brand-new junior activities at Les Quennevais Sports Centre — all designed specifically for 14‑ to 16‑year‑olds.
These sessions create a welcoming, age‑appropriate environment where teens can feel confident, capable and inspired to move.
Why Teen Exercise Matters
Teen exercise helps build strong bodies and healthy habits that can last a lifetime. Staying active also boosts mood, confidence and resilience, supporting teenagers’ mental wellbeing during a key stage of development. Plus, regular exercise improves focus and energy levels, helping young people feel their best both in and out of school.
Group Fitness Classes with their social atmosphere, motivation boost, and energy‑packed format, help young people to stay consistent and engaged.
Wearable tech and fitness apps are also shaping how teens exercise, helping them track progress and personalise their routines to suit their goals.
This growing interest in health and wellbeing is exactly why we’re expanding our junior offer at Les Quennevais.

Junior Racquet Sports at Les Quennevais
We have some dedicated racquet sessions for juniors at Les Quennevais.
To play independently, with friends, they will need to be 14 years +. Children of any ages can play if supervised by a parent of guardian.
Junior Swimming at Les Quennevais
Did you know that children aged 8 and over who can swim confidently are welcome to enjoy the pool at Les Quennevais without adult supervision?
We always recommend swimming with a buddy and reminding everyone to stay safe in the water – but we want swimmers of all ages to have fun!
Children under 8, or anyone who cannot swim or needs to use flotation aids must be accompanied in the pool by a supervising adult.
Book your space!
Bookings can be made at the desk at Les Quennevais or over the phone, but we highly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. Capacity in these facilities is limited.
You don’t have to be an Active member to book; you can book as a Pay & Play customer.
Whether they’re looking to move more, feel calmer, or try something completely new, our Junior Classes are about helping young people discover the joy of being active.
